(February 11, 2022) DFO completes harsh weather demonstrations at the Offshore Substations of the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a Offshore Wind Farms with the first Taiwan-flagged CSOV.
Dong Fang Offshore Co., Ltd. (DFO), a subsidiary of Hung Hua Construction Co., Ltd. today announces the successful completion of Walk to Work trials with the Orient Constructor at the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a Offshore Wind Farms, demonstrating its commitment to development of and engagement with a genuine, sustainable Taiwanese supply chain to support growing offshore wind activities.
The trials, conducted in early January 2022, displayed the ability of the Orient Constructor to conduct transfers during the harsh weather winter period at both the offshore substation and offshore foundations. Wave buoy data during the trials showed significant wave heights of up to 4 meters at the site.
Orient Constructor is Taiwan’s first subsea construction and walk to work vessel owned and operated by a local Taiwanese contractor. She was successfully converted into the CSOV role in Taiwan in late 2021 through the installation of a 3D motion compensated walk to work gangway.
DFO would like to thank Ørsted for the continued support, including the strong teamwork demonstrated to ensure the vessel could perform in the unique and challenging conditions at the site, and engagement with senior leadership within the organisation to ensure that operations were conducted in compliance with Ørsted’s HSE regulations and in a safe manner.
Dong Fang Offshore was founded in 2019 as a subsidiary of Hung Hua Construction Co., Ltd., Taiwan’s leading marine construction contractor. Dong Fang Offshore is the largest owner and operator of dedicated wind farm support vessels in Asia Pacific.
